Quotes from the CHEM257 lab manual

If the fire alarm proves not to be a fire drill, stay clear from the big flower pot in front of the building. The solvent room is right underneath it and if it goes up, you will beat the Olympic height jump record.

Never use the analytical balances to perform rough weighing: You are wasting you time, as well as your colleagues' time waiting for a balance for a critical weighing and this will not be tolerated. Be organized and do not let yourself be distracted. Do not waste time, you can chat and socialize elsewhere.

In case of acid or base spills on your body, remove immediately any contaminated clothes to prevent further diffusion of the aggressing  agent. This is not the time to exhibit FALSE MODESTY. Pay attention to body cavities if their area has been affected

You are in the lab to learn and not to make a fashion statement. Choose CHEAP clothes as every year, numerous pairs of pants and shoes are ruined by acid spills. The choice of natural fabrics over synthetic ones is strongly recommended as they are usually less flammable, more resistant to chemical attack and less likely to get DISSOLVED…

The choice of the clothing style is entirely up to the student, as long as it does not pose a SAFETY HARZARD.

A latter due date may be obtained in the case of a documented illness or DEATH!

Please show proper respect, courtesy and politeness towards you labmates, the technicians, the TAs and the lab instructor, as expected from a CIVILIZED HUMAN BEING.

I am at page 18 of 220.
